Privacy
Spril is built to keep your life on your iPhone. Its models run on your iPhone, it sells nothing about you, and it tracks you nowhere. Here is everything that leaves your phone, and why.
What stays on your iPhone
Your notes, journal, voice notes, documents, reads, goals, tasks, logs, Health readings, About you and everything the app's models make of them. Every model Spril uses runs on your iPhone, Talk too, and your pages never train them.
Your username
To work with other people, you choose a username and confirm it with Sign in with Apple. We keep your username, the public keys your iPhone made for it, when you made it, and a one-way digest of the identifier Apple gives us for you. That digest lets you have one username and take it to a new iPhone. We never see your email address or your phone number.
Apple's App Attest tells us a new username comes from Spril on a genuine iPhone. We keep nothing of it.
If you stop using Sign in with Apple with Spril, or delete your Apple Account, Apple tells us, and we delete your username as if you had deleted it yourself.
What you send to people you know
Meeting invites, notes, tasks, pictures and Shared Spaces are sealed on your iPhone for the people you send them to. We carry them, but we can't read them. We see who sent something to whom, when, and its size. We delete each one as soon as it's fetched, or after 30 days, and a picture after 30 days at most, so each person it's for can fetch it.
The Vault's sync (Spril Plus)
If you turn on the Vault's sync, your Vault and its pictures are encrypted on your iPhone before they leave it, under keys that stay on your iPhones and a recovery key only you have. We keep the encrypted copy, its size, when it was last put and its version, and we can't read any of it. Stop syncing, or delete your username, and the copy is deleted at once.
Spril Plus
Apple handles your payment. We keep your subscription's transaction number and when it ends, so Spril Plus follows your username, and people who look your username up see its gold tick. We never see your payment details.
The early list
If you join it on spril.co, Spril keeps your email and when you joined, only to email you once, when the app is out. Only Spril's team can see it, it's never shared, and you can remove it any time at spril.co/early/remove.
The form asks Cloudflare's Turnstile to check that you're a person and not a script. Your browser shares a few details about itself with Cloudflare for the check, and Spril sends Cloudflare your internet address with it. Spril keeps none of it.
Reads, links and the thoughts on Home
The list of publishers Reads fetches from, and the thoughts on Home, come from spril.co and are the same for everyone: your iPhone asks for them without saying who you are. Your iPhone fetches each publisher's feed, a piece's page and its pictures from the publisher's own site, as a browser would, without cookies.
When a note holds a link, your iPhone asks that page for its title, a line about it and its picture to show a preview, and keeps the answer on your iPhone. Turn off Show links as previews in Spril's Settings, and it asks nothing.
Weather
If Weather is on, your iPhone asks Apple's WeatherKit for the weather where you are, with your location rounded to about the width of a city first, and asks Apple's maps for that city's name. Neither is ever given a street.
The models
Spril's models come to your iPhone from Apple's servers, as downloads for the app.
Who runs it
Spril's servers run on Cloudflare, which carries their requests and stores their data. We use your internet address only to slow down anyone asking for too much at once and, when you join the early list, to check that you're a person. We don't store it.
Your choices
Delete your username under Settings › Network in Spril: it goes for good, and no one can ever take it. Its keys, its link to your Apple Account, Spril Plus's hold on it, anything waiting for it and the Vault's copy go with it. Your Spril Plus subscription is Apple's to cancel, under Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone.
